I’m finally a “real” game developer! Hurray!
Took a bit long (197 days), but things could have went a lot worse.
Thanks to everyone who voted!

I'm now working on new content for EBF4, hoping to increase the play-time by at least 25%.
Here's a full explanation of what's going to be added to the game.

I've also posted my Greenlight stats here, for anyone who's interested.

EBF4 has been Greenlit!

Since EBF4 is likely to be Greenlit on Steam in the next batch, I've started working on new content.
I've started off with harder versions of the bosses, here's the first two:
Armored Oak
Praetorian MkII

And as always, please vote on Greenlight if you haven't yet.
EBF4 is currently at number 12, but it was at number 5 before, meaning that a lot of games are overtaking it. So more votes would always help!

New Bosses for EBF4!

I wrote a somewhat lengthy blog about my first experiences with Starling and DragonBones. Might be an interesting read to some people who want to get some hardware acceleration into their Flash games.

Cat Cafe is nearing completion. Here's a preview of the upgrade system.

I've started using Twitter a lot more, so go follow me on there, if that's your thing.

Also, EBF4 is now at number 28 on Greenlight. A lot of games are overtaking it, but that doesn't seem to matter due to the huge batches being Greenlit now.

Random Updates

Last weekend I attended and spoke at a Flash game developer meetup hosted by Mochi.
Here's a blog about the event and my trip to London in general.

I've started playing around with Starling to get hardware acceleration on mobile games. The aim is to get Cat Cafe running at 60fps, and to perhaps make games like Bullet Heaven 2 feasible on mobile platforms. Here's some crappy tests I did.

Here's another update about Greenlight: EBF4 is at number 45, so a few more batches should do it. You should still go vote though.

I collected a lot of business cards in London, so I'm trying to design my own now. Here's what I've got so far:

Mochi London, Starling, Greenlight...

So it looks like Steam have increased their game throughput for Greenlight.
Apparently they've recently Greenlit a batch of 100 games, which is a lot more than they usually do.

I had pretty much given up on Epic Battle Fantasy 4 getting through Greenlight, but after seeing this, it might still have a chance. Previously the game was no where near the top 100, but now it's at number 70!

So if you know anyone who still hasn't voted and might enjoy the game: get them to vote here! EBF4 currently has 13,453 yes votes. Boost that by 50%, and that should be enough to get it through!

The Steam version of EBF4 will include a new battle area, with stronger versions of bosses, long endurance/survival battles, and some bosses returning from the previous games. New equipment and achievements will be awarded for completing these challenges.

The Steam version will also include all premium content available in the web version, and will not suffer from the restrictions of web browser games; It'll have fullscreen support, no ads, no audio compression, and it won't need an internet connection!

It'll probably cost around $10, but that's not completely up to me.

If you've somehow stumbled upon this post and don't know what EBF4 is, watch this trailer:

I've made a short video of the gameplay in Cat Cafe.
Besides the stuff shown, there will also be an upgrade system, achievements, and a dress up mode.

I'll be releasing the game on Android first, then iOS, then on the web.

I've made a character creator for my next game! Go check it out.

Apart from that, I haven't been getting much work done.
The weather's been too nice and chances are that Scotland won't get another Summer like this one in a very long time...

I just got back from Sweden and have been doing research on mobile games.

I'm interested to hear from any developers who have tried developing mobile games or even just porting their Flash games.
I'm also interested to hear what your favourite mobile games are, so I can check them out.

Oh, and I'm still working on my new website a lot. It's got custom emoticons and a mailing list now! I'm also hosting a few of my games to find out what "unlimited bandwidth" means.

Looking into mobile games

Go check it out and bookmark it!

I'll basically post everything I do on there, which is pretty much what I've been using DeviantArt for... but I guess I should have my own site by now.

Also, I'm playing around with Android apps. Expect some super casual cat games from me soon-ish!

Finally made a website!

64 bit support! Finally!
I tested out EBF4 on it, and sure enough, it compiles around 4 times faster, and animations and stuff run a lot smoother.
Shame they didn't add 64 bit support like 3 or 4 years ago, back when Flash still mattered.

Apart from that, I'm hearing a lot of bad things about Flash CC. So maybe I shouldn't get too excited.
I'm not too keen on combing through all of EBF4 to see if any of the removed features have done any damage to it...
