Bullet Heaven 2 beta!

Posted by matt-likes-swords - September 10th, 2015

Hay guys, the Bullet Heaven 2 beta is up!

It's pretty much finished, minus translations and Steam features.
Go check it out and tell me what you think!

The game is awsome but my god this game is hard lol btw do you think we can get more hp to have i feel like in current state three hit and im out you got like infinte bullet coming at me and im suppose to dodge em and kill them

The scenery is immersive, as is the music. Many fourth-wall references which I'm not a fan of, but this is a staple of EBF in general, so I ain't complaining. XD I also love that you have those extra costumes, names for the main and special attacks -- some of which recur from Bullet Heaven 1, and just how fluid everything is. The player's UI looks really nice -- I mean, the main and special attacks just by his side, with a round thing round him -- it looks so futuristic. The backgrounds are those which we know and love from EBF4, with some drastic changes, and they look polished. Obviously dimmer, because it's the background. XD

I like the system of waves that you have here; getting perfect on them replenishes the main and special weapons, which make Anna an absolute game-breaker, even without many cheats on. Though I'll admit, it only applies to a point, because in the first Bullet Heaven I enjoyed taking my time, learning the bullet patterns and attacking accordingly. Here, it seems that I run out of time all the time, and the game is compensating for me.

Not sure if I can stand the difficulty spike, though. I'm already into the jungle levels, and the hives discharging bullets of their own were a bit too drastic. If this encourages replaying previous levels to get money, I guess why not -- but it seems I can't enjoy a single, clean run.

Pardon me for making so many comparisons to Bullet Heaven 1 -- it's currently the one game I can make comparisons to.

As for the expansion pack, I kinda get where people are going with the direction of DLC these days. I like what I've seen of what you've included in it -- the extra characters, the extra levels... Though I must hope that the superboss run is not limited to the expansion pack. (I haven't gotten to that point yet, so I can't say.) I suppose, what might've made more sense to me is if a Secret Quest were included in an expansion pack, something which would be a decent length compared to the main game, and would be just as plot-thick -- but without any reveals until, say, the game is finished. That's only my mind working and churning out ideas, though -- and as with all the other things I mentioned above, the discretion is yours.

Thanks!
I don't think Anna is OP, her total damage output is a bit lower than others since her shots aim themselves.

You should play with the expansion pack while it's still free!

So many enemies..... so many bullets..... so many awesomeness...... This game will be the highlight of the century!!! (or for at least three whole months while people are still playing it) BEST GAME EVAR! 10 bullets out of 9 pillows! :D

Quite amazing! Cant wait for the steam release! Only thing I might suggest: turn the noise down on the death cry of the first boss. I was wearing headphones, and each round, that death cry made my ears bleed a bit. Other than that, its great!

Alright, will do.

Question, do you earn more money using Kongregate or Newgrounds? If you could provide a ratio that would be great too!

I've never really made very much from Newgrounds. Kongregate generally used to do much better sponsorship deals. Making money off free web games isn't really a thing anymore though.

I've just gotten the expansion pack. Noticed that it also came with a boatload of in-game cash. If that was intentional, that was a nice touch indeed. ^_^

About what do you think the time frame is on the Steam version being released?

Still a few months away.

I think i should thank you for another awesome game with awesome music and the four nice characters' hilarious dialogues, was a super idea to put plot into it this time. I merely played the first 2 levels and already loving it more than most things i played lately.

Better be

Ok whole game done, no bugs so far. Doing my best at the expansion now. (LOVE THE HFX PLAYER!!!)
I must say you've rly done a great job. When i played the first Bullett Heaven i really came to think it was totally impossible at some levels, but this game: nothing is impossible, JUST.... DO IT!!!!
I really like the balance, you don't get stuck on some damn Boss move that's totally ridiculous and getting 3 stars in each level seems very possbile tho a REAL challenge.
It's nice to have the selection between 8 Characters with different skills and skins, as well as having cheats and handicaps for people with lower or higher concentration to customize the game in a large width.
The visual stuff is overwhealming and the characters funnier than ever. You've put a lot of effort in it, having a different background each level (and the levels are so numerous O.o) and so many different foes as well as bosses who also each have different styles of shooting and defending, this is just perfect!
Your games plus HFX's music never fail to impress me, ever since i played EBF2 in 2009.
It's just the ultimate combination, Thanks!

Thanks! :D

I found another bug, Matt, which probably won't be triggered by most people, but there are some of us who find it a lot easier using tablets to play this game with, rather than a mouse. I decided to try Bullet Heaven 2 with my tablet instead of my mouse, and this happened:

The moving speed is okay, but the bug happens when you're attempting to restart battles from the Pause menu. Without me pressing the C button, the bomb triggers by itself, even though I don't have the related cheat turned on. I have been playing as Natalie and I hit the X button once, and I had my finger on Z all the way throughout. Just thought I'd let you know...

I'm not sure if the problem lies with the tablet itself, because I know Trust Flex can be a bit finicky at times, but this bug is there.

It always deletes my data.

P.S.: I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
