Flash 13?!

Posted by matt-likes-swords - June 18th, 2013

64 bit support! Finally!
I tested out EBF4 on it, and sure enough, it compiles around 4 times faster, and animations and stuff run a lot smoother.
Shame they didn't add 64 bit support like 3 or 4 years ago, back when Flash still mattered.

Apart from that, I'm hearing a lot of bad things about Flash CC. So maybe I shouldn't get too excited.
I'm not too keen on combing through all of EBF4 to see if any of the removed features have done any damage to it...

I'm still an olskoo dude so I still use Flash 8 because it doesn't crash on my computer. amsasmda

Things that I understood/didn't understand in your news post:
Flash 13 - don't know what it is
64 bit Flash - there are 64 bit Flash Player versions (11), aside from that I have no idea what's up
Flash CC - converts C++ into flash format (Flash C++ Compiler). Mike knows more about Adobe Alchemy
EBF4 - your latest flash game
removed features - probably you mean features which were removed from "Flash 13" but which you used

I've read the same post on DA, understood everything.
Only professionals care about latest achievements and products in their fields, so as to take advantage of it and make as much profit as possible before the technology gets old.
That's how Daikatana and Duke Nukem Forever were being developed - years after years the developers were constantly switching to new 3D engines and realizing they're technologically backwards until they caught up after 10 years & actually released their 3-dollar shit.
Now let's be like Bethesda Software, id3 Software, Blizzard, whip something up in 1-1.5 years and quickly sell it and stun everyone with pure awesomeness.

Quite interesting, is it better to animate in Flash 13 or in Adobe Flash CS3-5.

I didn't notice any improvements to animation after Flash 8.

Way to go Flash! Been waiting for this!

will they deliver

"back when Flash still mattered". Could you elaborate on what you meant by this?

Oh I just noticed the newspost #153. I shall read it now. Sorry.

"back when Flash still mattered" Is this based on your opinion or is this what really is happening cuz I really don't notice.

I think the whole "flash no longer mattering" argument is all to do with how we have things like html 5 and css 3 now. They are still very new technology though, so a lot of people have internet broswers which don't fully support it yet.

Meanwhile Flash is struggling to stay as functional as it was in it's prime as old web design code becomes redundant and/or gets replaced, it makes me sad in a way like seeing a childhood idol become a lazy hopeless drunk or something, but at the same time I haven't seen 1 single program do all the things flash can yet.

When that does happen, I think that will be Flashs final nail in the coffin, but for now I think it will just be used less often then it used to be.

Also " didn't notice any improvements to animation after Flash 8." ? Am I the only one who knows the potential of 'new motion tween' compared to 'classic tween' or something?

I had a wicked lil movie scrubber that paused, rewind, fast fowarded, and played.. now it doesnt work and i cant find a better one in as3.. im really sad.

Flash CC is Adobe's act of desperation. If it's still as buggy as cs6 noone will pay a monthly fee. You're right about little improvement, I switched from cs5 to cs6 and I only got a new window 'Project'. ASC2 was released later so that's something...

Sooo... Are you going to keep working on the EBF series?

This post about Flash 13 is no longer on DA, but on DA it was more descriptive, here I barely understood anything on first read.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Just thought id say that flash still does matter to this day and I know a site that is proof of it although the site is for mature audiences and it has a game on there that started out as something incredibly small and not that great but has grown pretty big and for reason I shall not disclose the site name in this comment
