Entry #136

NPCs and translations.

2012-10-08 13:42:01 by matt-likes-swords

Currently working on making all the NPCs and writing their dialogue.
They're a bit more interesting this time, and actually say new stuff once you trigger certain flags.

Here's a crappy NPC editor you can play around with.

Also, I've decided to translate EBF4 into Spanish, Portuguese, German and French.
It's going pretty well so far, Google Docs is pretty awesome for collaborative work.

2012-10-08 13:57:03

I think this EBF will be more epic than any other game I've played! LOL

2012-10-08 14:57:11

So these NPc's will give us more questes to complete right? but this time thet's ask us to slay some special monsters too. right?

matt-likes-swords responds:

Probably less quests than before, but slightly more interesting ones.

2012-10-08 15:00:44

Holy shit, the EBF series is starting to become more complex than huge console RPGs. :P

I'm going to lose so much sleep because of you. haha.

2012-10-08 15:46:47

Seems awesome and it will be interesting with more dialogue. Will you still be able to be with a partner/ partners in fights or will it be like Adventure Story?

2012-10-08 16:09:31

have you ever considered making console game?

2012-10-08 16:19:42

this looks amazing! though some questions still remain, will I be able to download it? will there be a multiplayer mode? could we possibly have a battle/scene editor where we can use characters and monsters we've encountered?

matt-likes-swords responds:

I thought about it, but probably not.

2012-10-08 16:40:34

Wow! It will be also a multilingual game. Does it means that some spanish speakers, portuguese speakers, german speakers and french speakers are going to play the game too?

2012-10-08 17:24:40

I always wanted to play EBF in spanish... Thank you, Matt, thank you...

2012-10-08 18:00:32

I speak Spanish :(

But I wouldn't trust myself as a translator. Still, if you need someone to have a look at it....

2012-10-08 18:51:16

Do you need some help with french? I'd be glad to help you, as i'm a french myself. :)

2012-10-08 19:17:30

I speak french, as it is my primary language. I would gladly help if requested.

2012-10-08 19:18:19

What about Italian translation? I could help with that, since I'm from Italy...

2012-10-08 20:32:03

2012-10-09 07:47:12

Nice. Can't wait to see the game. And to play it in a different language will help me for my class. I wish you luck on life.-X

2012-10-09 09:21:25

Nice. I know I shouldn't always complain about this, but where are the "important" languages? (for example Finnish, I'm Finnish y'know?)

matt-likes-swords responds:

The important languages are the most popular ones!

2012-10-09 20:51:41

2012-10-10 08:05:52

cool!EBF4 in frensh

2012-10-10 10:26:52

Just 2 questions: 1st The Spanish language will be neutral or the latin one? I'm tired of people saying that it is translated in Spanish and did not traslate properly (or failed to say which one is). Mainly preference. And 2nd: Will us be able to choose the language to read, or will be forced to our only language? So I can get back to English in case I don't like the translation.

matt-likes-swords responds:

1: We're trying to make it neutral, but it'll probably be closer to the south American version.
2: You'll have options.

2012-10-11 06:31:03

2012-10-11 20:03:19

My offer is still valid, I would gladly help for an Italian translation...

2012-10-11 20:07:56

*with the Italian translation

2012-10-13 00:50:19

Can i ask something unrelated to translations? When we beat the game will we have the options of replaying like EBF3 or there'l be a postgame because a postgame would be awesomepic! Please reply

2012-10-15 15:52:23

Heeeey, what about italian? >_> I mean, it's not a problem for me to play the english version, but if a read all those things about translation in french, spanish etc but not italian it reminds me about kingdom hearts 3d! I don't want to be boring but just think about it for 10 mins and i'll be fine!

2012-10-15 19:24:43

How often did you browse R*ddit at your university? XD

2012-10-19 12:07:11

Sweet! I'll probably use the English from the start though. I'm used to read everything in English on the net so using Spanish... I feel strange :S

2012-10-23 01:55:03

I'm brasilian and i love know EBF4 will be in portuguese too. This option open EBF4 for 180 million people. With you need any help with portuguese, I'd love to help.

2012-12-02 21:17:24
