What is your favorite papa louie game
Dunno who that is.
Hi Matt, was Anima from FFX one of the inspirations for Akron's design?
Yup.
Do you have any games you're looking forward to? Both Indie and non-Indie. Also, are you looking forward to (any games on) the Switch2 at all?
Next Doom game, Lost and Found Co., not really following much upcoming stuff...
I didn't play the Switch very much - as a WiiU and Steam Deck owner it didn't offer very much new stuff for me.
What's your least favorite part of being a game dev? How did you become one?
Fixing bugs long after writing the original code and you don't remember how it works any more.
I made games and they gradually started making money on websites like Kongregate and Armor Games.
Yo! Matt, I want to tell you that you are a great example for me, and that I love your games, thanks for giving me happy moments with them, I have a question, which has been the most difficult character to develop, and why? ✨
I dunno, I don't really put a lot of effort into the writing in my games.
I try to make it entertaining and consistent, nothing is particularly challenging about it, other than going back to it and making sure it still makes sense in context.
do you make threads on 4chan? or do you just lurk there
I just occasionally check the archives to see if people have been talking about me.
Communism = fascism?
Vague buzzwords that don't really mean anything when average people use them.
I really like that you added the v3 update to EBF4, but what compelled you to do it? Just perfectionism?
Mobile port. (which I did for Android and couldn't be bothered doing for iOS)
Wasn't very successful so far.
What was the reason behind which foes to cut and keep in EBF5? A lot of iconic foes didn't return (Jellies, Turtles, Elementals, Clays, etc.), not even as new variants like the Golems, and I wanted to know why that was.
Usually because a similar foe takes its place, or I just felt the animations were starting to feel a bit outdated.
location of every single cat in Matt's HIdden Cats
They're everywhere.
Made an Account Specifically for this (Too lazy to restore my old one)
What's the thing you've been most proud of when making it? Gaming or otherwise?
And also Bullet Heaven is one of my favorite games to this date, how does it feel that its now the name of the Genre with the weird mobile games like last war (T-T)
Probably just how long people play EBF5 for on Steam - the average player has 46 hours in it.
I don't feel much about the Bullet Heaven genre - tried a few but never got into them.
Oh and one last question
Have you heard of the video game Sky Children of the light?
Nope.
Long time fan here, I'm currently doing a style study according to your sketch work, so I wanted to know: what methods and materials do you use? Any other particular artists you could point to for inspiration? Any further tips?
Just pencils and pens. Nothing fancy.
Pencil stuff in roughly first, do pen work, erase the pencil, and then maybe pencil in some shading.
How do you feel about your news being published in communities for non-English speaking parts of the fandom?
That's cool.
Will Red Mage and Thief from Attack of the Black Mages ever make an appearance in your games?
Or have they already been in games and I never noticed? (I do remember Red Mage in Brawl Royale)
Always enjoyed those animations.
Probably not in any major way other than some vague references.
What's a game you would have wanted to make, but wasn't feasible from a technical or financial perspective?
I don't dream stuff that isn't viable to do. I imagine that feels like hell.
(see my previous blog post)
is EBF TD going to be an actual game
Never was.
If you could own any one weapon from EBF, what would it be? Also, would you even be interested in owning giant fantasy weapons like that, or is it too impractical?
People have made Heaven's Gate on a couple of occasions and it looks pretty cool.
Any place you've ever thought you want to visit in the world?
In the short term thinking about Vietnam, Lithuania, Croatia.
Someday Antarctica and Kenya sound pretty cool.

Have you ever played a rom hack and if so, which one’s your favorite?

Pokemon Clover and Smash Bros Remix are fantastic. As good as any real game.
Pokemon Rocket Version, Pokemon Gaia, lots of Banjo Kazooie and Super Mario 64 stuff is great.
